As most of you know my "real" knitting blog is <a href="http://stariel.blogspot.com>here</a>, but I do try to post to this lovely journal now and then as well. Unfortunately that hasn't happened for a while.

So how about a FO for each month I haven't posted, just so you few readers don't think I'm totally slacking...

Wow, it's been a while... [Apr. 21st, 2006|11:57 am]

So, as many of you may have guessed, this is not my primary knitting journal. I have a blog at http://stariel.blogspot.com which has all of my latest knitting projects.

But here's a little mini-update:

Yesterday I went to see the Yarn Harlot!

(from left) Yarn Harlot, Joanna holding her first Fair Isle sock, me with one of my current pairs of socks

It was a lot of fun and I got to see tons of Boston-area knitters. :)

Here's one of my first attempts at taking a "cute" photo of a knitting project.

Complete with my passport and the actual stamp from Denmark. ;)

Knitting Resolutions [Jan. 2nd, 2006|05:02 pm]
stariel_yarn
I've noticed that a lot of knitters are making a New Year's Resolution related to knitting, and I thought of one for myself.

This year I will knit (at least) 6 pairs of socks.

I like knitting socks. I love sock yarn. So this is a very fitting resolution. :) In fact, if I don't knit at least 6 pairs of socks, I may be drowning in sock yarn by the end of the year. I was thinking of making it 12, but I also have 2 sweaters I want to knit, plus about a million other things.

I've already started two pairs (a tiny bit), and I have plans for more, so here's what I have so far:

1. Denmark (from Knitting On the Road)
2. Conwy (from Knitting On the Road)
3. Jaywalker
4. Pomatomus

I also have a whole list of socks I want to make, and the Knitting Vintage Socks book. Those four are decided, though.

Kitty Pi! [Dec. 27th, 2005|09:01 pm]

A Kitty Pi, that is.

I had this brilliant idea to have my sister's dog, Zoe, model it pre-felting. Of course, my mom decided that it was a better size for the beagle Bandit. Unfortunately Bandit is not a dog that will do what you say just because you say it. So she got turkey. Chaos erupted.

Zoe crumpled the bed in her attempts. The dogs just couldn't believe that "Sit" was a trick that warranted turkey. They broke out the full retinue of tricks - speak, twirl around, jump in the air, attempted backflips...

Finally Bandit believed it.

And now the post-felting picture:

That's actually a ceramic bowl much larger than a pie pan. I think the kitties will fit just fine.

Tivoli #2 and Brian's hat [Dec. 23rd, 2005|03:00 pm]

At some point (did I forget to post it here?) I finished my 2nd Tivoli. The purple one with blue stars. I took this picture of it blocking shortly before running out the door to go to the airport, and it's not great, but here it is anyway:

While I was on the plane (mostly) I made a hat for my friend Brian in Karabella Aurora 8. It's just a simple ribbed hat, but it's nice and soft. I think he likes it! (He also approves of CTHGSY.)

Snow and socks [Dec. 4th, 2005|06:57 pm]

Today there was quite a bit of snow. I trudged (OK, not really, they do clear the sidewalks pretty well near my house) on my way to Knitsmiths and took this picture:

While there I started the toe decreases on these socks, which I don't believe have even made it to the blog:

They're for the Solid Socks KAL as well as the Holiday Knits Sox Exchange (so you'll know you're my pal if you get these socks in a week or so...)

And here's the picture just before I (don't worry, secret sock pal) washed and blocked them:

Yarn everywhere! [Dec. 3rd, 2005|10:56 pm]

I took these pictures right before leaving for Seattle, meaning to post them there. As you can see, I didn't get around to it. Well, here goes:

A whole bunch of swap yarn:

There is Manos, Lorna's Laces, Koigu, Bearfoot, and much much more! I don't usually post about my stash, but this has literally doubled it, so I thought I should post it here. ;)

And here are the Harry Potter scarves:

This time it's not me with a funny look on my face. ;)

At just after 2pm I headed out and got some yarn for my scarf exchange pal and my sock exchange pal. Then I went to the Knitsmiths (a local knitting group that usually meets a a bookstore) which was meeting at a member's house today because the bookstore was having a meeting or something.

While I was there, I finished the Rainbow scarf:

Here's my cat modelling my new dresser, which I'm very excited about. :D
